Time is something we cant get back and we can not get enough of it. There is rarely enough time to get the most do tasks done so it makes no sense to blow off this cherished commodity on time wasting activities. Most of us, however, have a very poor estimation of where their time goes. Memory is honestly undependable where time is concerned, and seeking to bring back from memory how you spent your day will always lead to misleading results. This need not be the case. The most productive people I know habitually Analyze what their day is spent on to make sure they are not wasting their day. The process can be made routine to alleviate the pain, and if it is done on a regular basis - and the data acted up on - it will lead to a noteworthy improvement in execution. Why? Because you will be spending more of your precious time on the tasks that matter. Instead of sitting in your favorite place trying to remember the actions of the day, you should write down the day as it happens. Taking detailed reports over a long period of time is essential to make this work. Even so, doing that every single day can be impossible. Even so, you should make it a goal to write down each day of the week. This can be spread out over several weeks to ease the load. For example: Week one you can journal Monday and Friday, week two Tuesday and Thursday, and week three Wednesday. It is a must to record the actions as they happen, and in enough detail that the day can be analyzed at a different time. Once you have finished the notes, the data need to be studied. There are two ways of analyzing your data. First you could recap the day and put the actions into various categories: Internet usage, meetings, follow ups etc. You will be surprised at how much of your time is wasted and not spent to accomplishyour main goal Next debate What would happen if this event was not done?" If the answer is nothing, then the remedy is clear. If not doing the particular action would have no positive effect on your life, relationship, job, what ever it is you are trying to manage your day for, then do not bother to do it. Nonetheless, most of the events will have some value, so you next need to consider: "Could someone else do this faster?" With a little dissecting, you can manage your time and achieve your tasks much easier and much more effectively.
